Listening to the podcast now.

About 20 minutes in… I can understand first impressions damning people. I mean, I hated Obama for making fun of special needs children on Saturday Night Live, saying he wants to remove medical care for soldiers on four different occasions, telling everyone to put down their Game Boys, botching the amount of states we have in the United States, talking about seeing dead people, blaming cops for arresting drunken friends, failing to show any sympathy for the people who died at Fort Hood, saying 100,000 people died in a Kansas Tornado that killed 11 people and a dog. Calling Pediatricians dishonest and claiming they are out to chop off people’s legs. Saying in an interview that it may be better to just get rid of the infirm or disabled. Yeah.. people somehow forgive such a despicable person who surrounds himself with despicable people like Rahm Emmanuel who called Democrats “Fucking R****ds” back in August.

But.. there seems to be more of a push to forgive him.. and I think it is because he is male. When Tina Fey said that she could see Russia from her house, everyone thought Sarah Palin was an idiot. Then Katy Couric puts out 45 minutes of a ten hour interview that was slapped together in the most Micheal Moore style way and people still have not forgiven Sarah Palin. That may be because she is female.

A lot of the Cammie hate bugs me because it appears to tinge on the same type of horrible misogyny amongst many gamers. I’ve sat through a lot of those keynotes… and I have heard the most insensitive and horrible spiel from Sony, Sega, and Microsoft as well. They were just lucky enough to have stated much of that before the Youtube and G4 booms. Remember the XB3 “Rocketgirl” Micro-Transaction Speech? How about the Warhawk crashing presentation? Or gems like “Playstation 2 is not a gaming machine, it’s a powerful super computer.” “Saddam has sought out PS2 to launch nuclear Scud missiles!” “PS2 is capable of beating Deep Blue!” “PS2 owners are the new type of hip lifestyles.” “RPGs and Strategy games have no place on the Play Station.” The list goes on and on with them. Yeah, Cammie said some dumb stuff at a keynote a few years ago. I think it is time to let it go.. unless you’re willing to sell your PS3 because of the endless Gran Turismo delays or the “gamers will just get a second job to buy our system” arrogance of Sony. How about that sony “3D keynote” at the recent CES? Did you listen to it? It was purely crap and you should be ashamed to be supporting Howard Stringer by owning a PS3. Go watch his speeches. Or for that matter, head on back to Microsoft’s E3 conference last year. Wasn’t that James Cameron bit wonderful? If you’re going to sell a system because of one PR person, you may have just been looking for a reason to sell it.

As for customer retention, that’s a good point and it will be interesting to see what Nintendo does in the future. The point about the Wii prices is right as more simple games tend to cost less at retail. The majority of Wii games are $20 to $40 where most PS3/XB3 games are $70 to $60.

Oh! The casual remark earlier was about how the people who usually buy GTA, or popular FPS games are usually the same kind of crowd that also buys Madden every year. They’re literally almost single genre gamers… those are not ‘hardcore” at all. They’re just in it because that’s the “popular” game to play. Kind of like people who buy a Wii and all they own is Wii Sports and a few other party games.

Oh! media create and the NPD stats place New Super Mario Bros. Wii at over 10 Million worldwide as of January 24th. Worldwide sales for Modern Warfare 2 are currently at about 12 million worldwide in combined PC/XB3/PS3 sales.

The big difference is that New Super Mario Bros. Wii still sells like gangbusters. Modern Warfare 2 does not.

Oh, no. I’m listening to the CBG while typing that. That’s why I commented on the point that Hbomb made.

Wild Arms is published by a bunch of people these days.. I think XSeed has the license for it currently. Wild Arms XF was XSeed.

Oh, after re-watching the iPad keynote.. I’m surprised no one sold their Apple products in disgust.

First thing out of the gate was: “Look how much money we made!” followed by “Here is a magical product you would have to be a terrible, kitten murderer to hate!”

There’s also no instances we know of where Reggie verbally abuses journalists and demands they take down innocent Twitter comments. But we do know Steve Jobs has done that and other things in the past.
